Capture

Hello, I'm Melissa. Photography started as an interest a few years ago, but now has developed into my favorite hobby. I absolutely love doing it!

Week 12: History. This is the place that holds my history. I was blessed enough to live in the same house (up until I left for college), and that when I visit home, I sleep in the same room I slept in when I was a baby. This house holds my memories, good and bad. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
For edits, I just made it look “gritty” so the picture showed more age. I made the border darker so the focus was on the house, even with it being off centered.

Week 11: Tools. I’m definitely not “handy;” I’d say I’m crafty. I’ve developed a hobby of crafting and making things - bracelets and decorations. My future career of speech-language pathology has made me become in touch with my crafty side, as well. That’s why I chose these items for tools.

Week 10: Minimal. Going into this week, I was clueless. I had to turn to google for some tips on how to shoot “minimal,” and I found some great tips. I went out and took a few different shots and narrowed them down. I love the colors, and how simple yet how cool it is.

Week 9: Sillouette. I really have a thing for trees. I love the way this tree looks amazing, even though you can’t see the colors in it. It’s truly one of God’s greatest features on earth.

Week 8: Water. I have so many excuses as to why I did such an ordinary picture, when I could have got creative with it. However, there is something really simple that attracts me to this picture. It’s something I take advantage of, and something I’m also truly grateful for. Clean water.

Week 7: Landscape. I absolutely love Fort Wayne (and any city for that matter), but there’s something about open spaces that remind me of home. Elwood is surrounded by corn fields, and that’s one thing I enjoy. This picture fills that void. It was taken at my favorite park, Shoaff Park. I love that fact that you can see the green grass, even though it’s in the middle of winter. Also, I like how the trees form a frame around the picture - very natural.

Week 6: Graceful. When I saw this theme, I immediately thought of ballet. There’s nothing more graceful than a ballerina. I’ve always been a fan of dance, but ballet has been one of my favorites since I was younger (my parents took me to see the Nutcracker). Two years ago, I had the opportunity to take a ballet class, and I seized it! I loved learning the techniques and the history. Also, I performed in a recital, which felt so good to be on a stage again. Anyways … I used soft coloring which makes me love it even more.
PS: I still want to be a ballerina when I grow up.

Week 5: Sweets. I feel like this photo might need some explanation. I started running and making healthier choices. I want to avoid sweets - candy, desserts, etc. (It’s been very hard!). I decided to look at sweets as an adjective. Well, this is my sweets photo. He is Dale and mine’s 4 month old sheltie, named Charlie. He is the sweetest when he first wakes up, and this is the exact moment I snapped the picture.

Week 4: Shadow. I had a diffcult week with trying to find a picture to take. The Indiana weather wasn’t too sunny. The days that were sunny I had to be at work. I decided on this one. I like the “creepy” look that it has. Also, you can’t really tell where the tree is.

Week 3: Transportation. I wasn’t really into this theme; therefore, it was really hard to find a picture I loved. I took pictures of different bikes, keys, and even a stop sign. This is the one that I liked best out of all of them. It’s a bike I found around the property, and ended up choosing this as my photo of the week.
